Acomb Community Cinema was established in 2016, in response to an overwhelmly positive response from our community for such a provision.

Since then, apart from a break for COVID reasons, with the help of a small band of volunteers we’ve been running monthly on the second Saturday of each month, and over 90 people gather each time to watch a newly released film.

For copyright reasons we cannot display the film titles on our website, but you will get details at each film, and they are on display within the foyer of Acomb Methodist Church. We tend to pick films that will make you think, but have had musicals, thrillers, comedy, action – you name it!

The cinema is free, but we sell hot drinks and snacks which helps us cover our costs, and continue to invest in our premises…we were recently able to fund new chairs for example.

The films are aimed at adults, so may be unsuitable for children, but in any case we ask any children attending to be accompanied by an adult.

We have launched the cinema again 13th March. If all goes well, then we will continue on monthly.
